Over 300,000 excited players dove into Last Epoch upon its recent release, causing server issues and prompting a wave of negative Steam reviews, shifting its rating from “mostly positive” to “mixed”.
Although the worst of these problems have subsided, the initial reactions remain visible on the game’s Steam page. In a recent post reflecting on the launch, game director Judd Cobler expressed confidence in the team’s ability to improve the situation.
“While the game itself continues to receive praise, initial server challenges affected our Steam reviews,” Cobler explained. “We’re dedicated to rebuilding trust by enhancing our backend infrastructure and ensuring a smooth online experience.”
Assuring fans of Last Epoch’s lasting presence, Cobler promised ongoing updates and a patch this week focusing on bug fixes and user experience enhancements. Additionally, the team plans to address community feedback in future updates, including expanding endgame content and refining gameplay elements.
Despite some lingering negative feedback, Last Epoch’s player base remains strong, with around 186,000 concurrent players. It continues to rank among the top-played games on Steam, demonstrating its enduring popularity.
