In a recent update to Palworld, a new NPC has been introduced that wasn’t mentioned in the official patch notes. This addition by Pocketpair, the game’s publisher and developer, comes amidst a series of exciting changes over the summer.

The Sakurajima Update, launched on June 27, brought a wealth of new content to Palworld, including 14 new Pals, 10 fusion Pals, and new locations such as the Sakurajima island and the Rayne Syndicate’s Oil Rig stronghold. However, a more recent patch in late July introduced a friendly NPC,
the Cautious PIDF Officer, to Marsh Island. This NPC serves as a warning to players about the nearby Oil Rig’s dangers, despite not being highlighted in the patch notes.

The Cautious PIDF Officer can be found east of Marsh Island’s fast-travel point. When approached, this NPC advises players to steer clear of the Syndicate’s Oil Rig, a high-level area known for its challenging enemies and treacherous environment. Without proper equipment and high-level Pals, players may find themselves overwhelmed by the Syndicate’s defenses or even face difficulties like drowning or being shot down while on flying mounts.

Interestingly, the latest patch (version 0.3.4, released on July 29) also made some adjustments to the Oil Rig’s difficulty. It reportedly reduced enemy firepower and addressed a bug that caused the treasure chest at the Oil Rig to disappear for some players. Despite the added warning from the new NPC, these changes are aimed at making the stronghold more accessible.

Palworld’s latest updates continue to enhance the gameplay experience,
and the introduction of this friendly NPC adds an extra layer of depth to the game’s evolving world.
