Prepare your wallet for Asus’s new mini-PC launch on 10th of April!

Asus debuted its first ROG NUC during CES 2024. While we got a glimpse of the unit and some launch specs back then, details like pricing and release dates were left out. Fortunately, a pre-order listing on European retailer Proshop (via NotebookCheck) has shed some light on these.

The listing reveals a launch price of €2,500 for the high-end version, equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H CPU and RTX 4070 laptop GPU. This model comes with 2x16GB of DDR5 memory and a 1TB SSD, with a release date slated for April 10.

At €2,500, it’s definitely on the pricier side, likely not a top pick for everyone. Thankfully, Asus plans to release a more affordable variant, featuring a Core Ultra 7 155H processor and RTX 4060 graphics, according to their product page.

As a fan of compact PCs, owning a ROG NUC would be exciting, despite the hefty price tag compared to building a mini-ITX PC for less.

Setting the price aside, the 2.5L ROG NUC appears impressive.
With manageable specs, cooling and noise levels shouldn’t pose a problem. It supports up to 64GB of DDR5 SO-DIMM memory, three PCIe Gen 4 SSDs, and features WiFi 6E, 2.5GB LAN, and Thunderbolt4 / USB4.
Plus, its connectivity options allow for up to four displays, thanks to DP 2.1 support, along with dual DP 1.4a and a single HDMI port.

The ROG NUC marks Asus’ first venture into NUCs following its partnership with Intel. This collaboration entails Asus selling and supporting 10th to 13th Gen NUC product lines while having a non-exclusive license to design systems like the ROG NUC.

The ROG NUC is hopefully just the beginning for Asus in the NUC realm.
We might see Strix or TUF gaming NUCs in the future, alongside other possibilities like business NUCs or Zen/Vivo NUCs down the line.
Hopefully, upcoming models with Intel Xe integrated graphics will offer more budget-friendly options, steering clear of the sticker shock of the current ROG NUC.
