Destiny 2 players can now enhance their guardians’ appearance!

Bungie, after almost a decade and numerous complaints, announced a system allowing players to edit their guardians’ appearance. In the latest This Week in Destiny blog post, the developer shared:

“No matter the reason, you’ll be able to change your Guardian’s look when character customization goes live in an update before the release of The Final Shape. To do so, you’ll only need to launch Destiny 2, and you’ll notice a new option when you hover over a character at the character selection screen.”

Surprisingly, for a studio selling additional transmog items, the new system will be completely free.

“You will be able to modify the appearance of your Guardians anytime, without cost or limit to the number of changes. Just take into consideration that while you can change the body type, face, hair/head, and markings, it won’t be possible to change from one origin to another (i.e., Human, Exo, or Awoken).”

This should satisfy players who created unconventional characters and have been stuck with them.

The exact date for the new system’s launch is unspecified, but Bungie mentioned resetting the Synthweave bounty cap in March. These transmog items can be earned for free, but additional ones must be purchased after reaching the limit.

With the current season extended due to The Final Shape delay, Bungie plans to add free content over two months starting in April as Destiny 2: Into the Light. A PvP map pack is also set to release in May.

Today’s post lets players vote between two sets of wizard-themed Festival of the Lost armor for the annual Halloween event in October.

Finally, Bungie kicks off its annual charity push called Game2Give, offering various in-game cosmetic items based on donations. The Bungie Foundation has raised $20M to date, bringing warmth despite challenges surrounding the game.
