Confirmed: Date and time for next Pokémon event!

The upcoming Pokemon Presents livestream has been officially announced for February 27, coinciding with the anniversary of the first entry in the Pokemon franchise.

This news was highly anticipated by fans, especially considering that 2024 will mark the fourth consecutive year of such a broadcast on Pokemon Day.

Pokemon Day has been celebrated annually since the series marked its 20th anniversary in 2016. Out of the first seven celebrations, five included a dedicated Pokemon Presents event, a livestream focused on the future of the franchise. Since 2021, The Pokemon Company has been holding two Pokemon Presents broadcasts each year: one on Pokemon Day and another in August.

It seems this trend will continue for the fourth year in a row, with the Japanese group confirming that Pokemon fans should mark February 27 on their calendars. The first Pokemon Presents event of 2024 will air at 6 am PT, the company announced. Based on past broadcasts, the upcoming livestream will likely be between 15 and 20 minutes long.

As for what to expect from the event, fans are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the long-awaited remakes of Pokemon Black and White. Game Freak’s last pair of remakes, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, were unveiled during a Pokemon Presents livestream in late February 2021 before debuting on the Switch nine months later. Since new mainline entries in the franchise aren’t expected until late 2025, they are unlikely to be mentioned at the event, making the fifth-generation remakes the most likely candidates for the next Pokemon Presents headliners.

Looking ahead, the February 27 event may reveal Game Freak’s final Switch games. Recent reports suggest that Nintendo’s next console will hit the market in early 2025, leading some analysts to predict that 2024 will be the year of Switch remakes. Regardless of whether this forecast pans out,
it’s clear that Game Freak will align with Nintendo’s overall product strategy for the year, given its status as a second-party developer for Pokemon RPGs.

In addition to potential game announcements, The Pokemon Company may also unveil a limited-time Pokemon Day event in Scarlet and Violet during the broadcast. Updates for Pokemon GO and announcements related to the Pokémon Masters EX mobile game are also expected.
