A hacker group recently claimed they got into PlayStation’s Insomniac Games and leaked a bunch of stuff they took. The hackers, called Rhysida, said they’d spill sensitive company info and stuff about their new games unless they got paid.
They even showed some proof by sharing a picture from Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game. Then they said they’d put everything out there unless someone paid them 50 Bitcoins (which is like $2 million).
Now, Rhysida went ahead and posted over 1.3 million files online, about 1.67 terabytes in total. They basically put out 98% of what they grabbed. They mentioned that the stuff they didn’t put out might’ve been sold to someone.
People on social media are already diving into these files. It seems like there’s a ton of things about Insomniac’s future games, like the new Wolverine game and a deal with Marvel for more games. Plus, there are inside papers, budgets, and even secret plans for games over the next decade!
At first, the hackers hinted they got hold of passport scans, a personal paper from the voice actor of Spider-Man, some work emails, and super-secret docs. We don’t know yet how much of that made it out in the leak, or if the part they sold off had any of this stuff.
Nobody’s heard from Sony about all this yet, but news might come out as things go on.
