Big news in the gaming world! Pete Hines, developer at Bethesda publishing, just dropped a bombshell. After a whopping 24 years with the Starfield crew, he’s stepping back. And get this, it’s hot on the heels of Microsoft sealing the deal on that epic $69 billion Activision Blizzard takeover!

In his tweet, Hines spilled the tea: “I’m gearing up for a whole new adventure! Exploring what makes my heart race, giving back where I can, and savoring every moment.” Trust, this choice wasn’t made lightly. After a killer run, especially with the mind-blowing Starfield launch, it just feels like the perfect time, you know? But wait, it’s not a forever farewell! Hines made sure to shout out the incredible Bethesda crew: “You guys are my ride-or-dies! Working alongside you all has been the absolute highlight of my life… Love you!”

And the love didn’t stop there! Bethesda’s Twitter lit up with hearts and rainbows, saying, “Pete’s public face was just a fraction of his magic here at Bethesda. His vibe of keeping it real, staying true, and being all in, totally defined us.” Later, they dropped a hilarious “prescription” for Hines (because, remember, he’d give gamers a pass during mega releases), prescribing a hefty dose of gaming, cuddling adorable pups, and of course…more games! It might sound unconventional, but it’s so Pete. The dude clocked a whopping 130 hours in Starfield earlier this year!
