Status update of Xbox’s next-gen console!

Renowned leaker Moore’s Law is dead has recently shared an update on the upcoming next-gen Xbox console, suggesting that its production is currently lagging behind its counterpart from PlayStation.

As gamers immerse themselves in the current 9th generation of consoles with the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, discussions about the future of gaming hardware are beginning to emerge after over three years into this console era.

In March of the previous year, the Federal Trade Commission inadvertently disclosed the existence of the next-gen Xbox console, complete with an official codename at Microsoft. Since then, details about the company’s progress or the status of the next console have been scarce. However, recent insights from YouTuber and leaker Moore’s Law is Dead shed light on the potential development status of the next-gen Xbox.

According to insider information shared by Moore’s Law is Dead,
the development of the next Xbox console is reportedly trailing its PlayStation counterpart. The alleged reason behind this delay is attributed to Microsoft’s prolonged negotiations with CPU developer AMD to create new processors for the upcoming console. AMD is a familiar name among gamers, being a major CPU developer, crafting some of the top gaming graphics cards in 2024, and having collaborated with Xbox and PlayStation on their recent consoles.

This update is somewhat unexpected, seemingly conflicting with inadvertent leaks from last year. In September, additional legal issues with the FTC led to separate leaks detailing Xbox’s plans for the next-gen console, including the potential for a hybrid console and increased integration of cloud technology. These leaks also indicated that Microsoft had narrowed down its processor options to two choices,
both manufactured by AMD. If Moore’s Law is Dead’s information is accurate, it suggests a significant shift in the Xbox team’s plans over the past few months.

As of now, Xbox has not officially responded to these recent leaks. However, the company’s leadership, notably CEO Phil Spencer,
seems occupied with addressing various matters. Spencer recently responded to concerns about potential multiplatform releases for some Xbox games, promising an event in the future to provide more information. It appears that at this event, Spencer may need to address additional rumors surrounding the status of the next Xbox console.
