Female employees awarded $54m in Activision Blizzard lawsuit!

Activision Blizzard, you know, that gaming company owned by Microsoft now? They settled this big thing with the California Civil Rights Department. Basically, some female employees from 2015 to 2020 were saying they weren’t getting fair pay or chances to move up because of their gender.

The deal? Activision Blizzard is shelling out around $46.75 million to these women who felt they got the short end of the stick. Plus, about $9.125 million is covering the lawyer bills.

But here’s the scoop: Activision Blizzard has to step up its game on fair pay and promotions. The California CRD wants to make sure things get fairer for everyone in there.

Surprisingly, the investigation didn’t find proof of a big culture of harassment or that the bosses turned a blind eye to it. They also said the big shots at the top, like Bobby Kotick, didn’t do anything wrong, at least according to their investigation.

The California CRD director, Kevin Kish, is all about making sure women get treated right at work. He’s pretty stoked about this deal, thinking it’s a big win for the Activision Blizzard crew.

Activision Blizzard, in a statement, sounded pretty relieved too. They’re all about making things right now, promising fair pay and better opportunities for everyone. They also made sure to say that the accusations about a toxic work culture got dropped because nothing solid came out in the investigations.

So yeah, it looks like they’re trying to patch things up and make things better for their people.
