Early access available for Diablo 4’s extensive season 4 update!

Exciting news for Diablo 4 enthusiasts! A major update is on the horizon, and you can get a sneak peek by joining Blizzard’s “PTR,” or public test realm, starting today.

From April 2 to April 9, PC players using the Battle.net launcher (unfortunately, not available for Steam players) can dive into Blizzard’s revamped loot progression, featuring two new crafting systems for personalized item customization.

While not all changes slated for season 4 will be included in the PTR, participants can expect to test new items, class balance adjustments,
and explore a fresh endgame dungeon ahead of the update’s official release on May 14.

Blizzard has announced the dates for Diablo 4’s season 4 PTR but hasn’t specified the exact launch time. The PTR is expected to go live around 10 am PDT / 1 pm EDT / 7 pm CEST, typically coinciding with patch releases.

To access the Diablo 4 PTR:

1. Open the Battle.net app (or Windows Xbox app for Game Pass users)
and select Diablo 4.
2. Beside the Play button, choose the PTR option from the dropdown menu.
3. Click install, then Play, and select a test server to create characters on.

The focus of the season 4 PTR is to evaluate loot acquisition and enhancement mechanisms at maximum level. To streamline testing, Blizzard offers an instant boost to level 100 through an NPC named “PTR boost” in Kyovashad.

Boosted characters receive various bonuses for testing purposes,
including gold, gambling tokens, gear sets, upgraded potions, and more. These rewards aim to facilitate exploration of the revamped loot system.

Blizzard emphasizes that progress made in the PTR does not carry over to the live game. Players are encouraged to experiment freely without concern for impacting their main Diablo 4 experience.

With over 10,000 words in the Diablo 4 season 4 patch notes, players can anticipate significant changes to loot mechanics and gameplay dynamics. Key alterations include reduced item drop rates with increased item potency, the ability to trade Legendary and Unique items, and enhancements to item customization through Tempering and Masterworking.

The PTR concludes on April 9, with season 4 scheduled to commence on May 14. Blizzard has yet to unveil the unique features of the upcoming season, but further details are anticipated in the coming weeks.
