Persona 3 Reload leak hints at possible expansions!

Persona 3 Reload, the highly anticipated remake of the 2006 Atlus classic, is generating buzz even before its release, with rumors circulating about potential DLC plans. According to reliable sources within the Atlus community, Persona 3 Reload is expected to receive several post-release expansions aiming to address some of the major concerns raised about the remake. However, it’s important to note that these expansions will come with a price tag.

Renowned leaker Midori, also known as MbKKssTBhz5 on Twitter,
shared on social media that The Answer will be offered as DLC “within the fiscal year.” However, the specific fiscal year—whether it’s 2024 or 2025—is not specified. The Answer serves as the epilogue to Persona 3 and was previously exclusive to the FES release of the game. Midori has a track record of accurate leaks, having previously revealed the existence of Persona 3 Reload before its official announcement, along with other Sega-related leaks.

The inclusion of The Answer as DLC presents a mixed sentiment among fans, akin to a glass half-full, half-empty scenario. The allure of a Persona 3 remake lies in its potential to provide a definitive version of Atlus’ exceptional title. Given that Persona 3 has seen three iterations prior to Reload—with a fourth now on the horizon—it’s challenging for fans to experience all the version-exclusive content in one playthrough. Notably, both The Answer and Persona 3 Portable’s female protagonist route are exclusive to their respective versions, requiring fans to make choices about the content they wish to explore in Persona 3.

While Reload falls short of being the definitive remake fans envisioned, with developers emphasizing it as a reimagining rather than an inclusion of The Answer and the female protagonist, it introduces features not present in the original game release. Elements like social links for male party members and Aigis are drawn from Portable and FES,
respectively.

Midori’s leaks suggest that fans can anticipate access to The Answer in the near future. However, the decision to charge for content that could have addressed some of the fans’ concerns about Persona 3 Reload raises some reservations. Despite The Answer being on the horizon, Midori also claims that there are no plans to introduce the female protagonist route to Reload. In an interview with Gamerwk,
Persona Team’s Production Manager Kazuhisa Wada indicated that the team is not considering a revision similar to Persona 5 Royal,
implying that, despite modern updates, Reload may still fall short of becoming the definitive version that Persona 3 deserves.
