New details revealed about the upcoming Intel Lunar Lake CPU!

A trusted source in the tech world has shared exciting news about the upcoming Intel Lunar Lake CPU lineup, revealing a significant 50% performance boost compared to the previous generation Meteor Lake mobile processors. According to leaks and speculation, these new Lunar Lake CPUs from Intel are anticipated to debut by the end of 2024, alongside Arrow Lake.

Details about an Intel Lunar Lake sample surfaced back in February, confirming an 8-core and 8-thread configuration for the new MX platform. Among these cores, four are high-performance cores based on the Lion Cove microarchitecture, while the other four are efficiency cores based on the Skymont microarchitecture. The upcoming Lunar Lake MX processors are expected to incorporate Battlemage Xe2-LPG GPU cores,
offering substantial performance improvements for new handheld gaming devices and energy-efficient laptops.

Tech insider Bionic_Squash shared insights on Twitter and Videocardz.com, indicating that Intel Lunar Lake will deliver a remarkable 50% performance increase compared to Meteor Lake, despite the newer chips having fewer cores, dropping from 12 to 8. Bionic_Squash suggests that Lunar Lake chips can achieve this boost in performance in multithreaded applications like Cinebench 5.4.5 at 17W, slightly higher than Meteor Lake’s 15W CPUs.
The TDP for Lunar Lake is projected to rise to 30W, potentially offering significant gains in both single-core and multi-core performance over Meteor Lake for new Intel-powered laptops. Additionally, leaks suggest that there will be 8W fanless power designs for Lunar Lake, particularly suitable for ultra-thin laptops, which are commonly used for browsing, schoolwork, and other light tasks.

While Intel has yet to officially confirm specs and details for Lunar Lake, Bionic_Squash’s insights align with leaked preliminary plans for the new CPUs. The promised performance improvement of Lunar Lake bodes well for gaming on low-powered devices.
