There’s been a flurry of updates on Path of Exile 2, including revamped combat mechanics and a commitment to its “ethical free-to-play” model. However, amidst the excitement, here’s a bit of less-than-ideal news: the beta, initially set for June 7, will now be postponed until later in the year.
Grinding Gear Games shared this update via Twitter, explaining that while they anticipated having the game’s content ready on time,
they underestimated the time needed for polishing the gameplay to their satisfaction. They reassured players that alpha testing will proceed in June as planned, with the beta following at a later date.
During a recent press event, PC Gamer contributor Dominic Tarason had the opportunity to try out a demo of Path of Exile 2. Despite praising its diverse environments and engaging gameplay, he noted some technical issues such as occasional crashes and stuttering, which may have contributed to the beta delay.
Grinding Gear Games concluded their announcement by expressing regret for the delay and assuring players that they will provide a more precise release date as the year progresses.
