Nvidia has rolled out the GeForce Game Ready Driver, enriching the gaming experience in The Finals shortly after its launch.
This update introduces cutting-edge technologies like DLSS 3 and DLAA, delivering across-the-board performance enhancements. In addition to boosting The Finals, the latest Nvidia driver also brings support for DLSS 2 and Nvidia Reflex to Fortnite Chapter 5, extending these features to modes such as LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing.
In November 2023, Nvidia released a driver update to introduce support for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The version 546.17 driver incorporated DLSS support and optimizations to ensure high frame rates on GeForce RTX graphics cards with DLSS activated. However, this update encountered some issues, prompting Nvidia to swiftly release version 546.29 in early December to rectify these flaws. The December update not only addressed these issues but also introduced support for CyberPunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, harnessing Nvidia’s ray reconstruction technology to enhance the game’s visual appeal. As 2023 drew to a close, Nvidia remained committed to keeping PC gamers’ drivers up to date.
On December 12, Nvidia unveiled Game Ready Driver version 546.33, catering to a range of graphics cards from the high-end RTX 40 series to the older GTX 700 series. The update notes highlighted the addition of DLSS 3 and DLAA support for compatible graphics cards, including the RTX 4060 and above. The inaugural season of The Finals kicked off on December 7 with a surprise drop at The Game Awards. Nvidia claimed that the DLSS 3 update for The Finals remarkably boosted frame rates by up to 90 FPS at 4K resolution on high-end cards like the RTX 4090. Even the RTX 4060 witnessed a remarkable increase, reaching up to 162 FPS at 1080 with DLSS enabled, while the RTX 4090 soared past the 300 FPS mark at that resolution.
The Nvidia GeForce 546.33 update not only brought DLSS 2 and Nvidia Reflex support to Fortnite Chapter 5 but also extended these enhancements to the captivating LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing modes, both showcased at The Game Awards. However, the new chapter’s release was met with some controversy as players voiced concerns about alterations in Fortnite’s movement systems.
It remains to be seen how Epic Games responds to these concerns raised by Fortnite players. Nonetheless, with the Nvidia driver update and an ongoing offer providing Nvidia GPU purchasers with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, PC gamers have plenty to savor during this holiday season.
