Nintendo recently shared a glimpse of what’s coming in Splatoon 3’s Chill Season 2023 update, following the game’s previous fall event, Drizzle Season. Just like the Drizzle Season 5.0 update, fans can anticipate a fresh batch of content including stages, weapons, and some beloved favorites in this free seasonal update.

Although Splatoon 3 is relatively young, the developers continue the tradition of supporting the game with free content updates, while also teasing upcoming paid DLC called Side Order in the recent Nintendo Direct. While fans eagerly await the spring 2024 release of the Side Order DLC, Nintendo delighted players by unveiling a sneak peek of the upcoming free update.

The trailer for Splatoon 3’s Chill Season 2023 showcases a new stage inspired by a ramen shop called Robo ROM-en, the return of Bluefin Depot, an exciting special titled Splattercolor Screen, and a fresh track “No Quarters” from the in-game band Chirpy Chirps. Additionally, fans might have caught glimpses of new weapon kits, a new King Salmonid, and a mysterious Big Run event at the Barnacle & Dime multiplayer stage.

Anticipated by Splatoon enthusiasts, the Chill Season 2022 event hinted at new gear additions to the game. While weapons and maps take the spotlight, the series’ vibe is equally shaped by its music and gear, with the new Chirpy Chirps single “No Quarters” already garnering positive reactions from fans.

Splatoon 3 isn’t just one of Nintendo Switch’s finest first-party games but also an exceptional multiplayer experience on the console. Similar to titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo sustains these games with ongoing support post-launch. With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe still receiving new DLC after almost a decade and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s thrilling character reveals, Splatoon 3 continues this trend, promising both free seasonal content and paid DLC to keep the gaming experience fresh.
