In a November filled with excitement, Fortnite soared to new heights, setting another remarkable record. This surge in popularity owes much to the arrival of Chapter 4: Season OG.

Season OG, launched on November 3, brought back the golden era of Fortnite, stirring nostalgia by reintroducing beloved features from the game’s peak in 2018. This revival struck a chord, attracting a record number of players to both Fortnite’s Save the World and battle royale modes. With a resurgence of classic weapons, items, and the original map, this update captivated longtime fans while drawing in a fresh wave of enthusiasts, elevating Fortnite’s popularity even higher.

The announcement on Fortnite’s Twitter proudly declared a milestone—surpassing 100 million players throughout November, marking a historic moment for the game. As Fortnite gears up for the in-game event, The Big Bang, on December 2 leading into the next chapter starting December 3, the fate of Season OG’s features remains uncertain.

The astounding success of Season OG has posed an unexpected challenge for Epic Games, Fortnite’s developer. The resounding love for this throwback iteration risks upsetting the game’s current dynamics if these nostalgic features are replaced. Yet, preserving Fortnite OG as a distinct mode while introducing new seasons might fragment the player base and affect the game’s longevity.

While Epic grapples with this puzzle, the studio’s track record suggests they’ll find a solution. Leaks hint at exciting crossovers for the upcoming Chapter 5, featuring characters like Snake from Metal Gear and Peter Griffin from Family Guy as collectible skins.

Despite no official word, leaks suggest that Season OG’s content might not survive into Chapter 5. While this could disappoint OG fans, it aligns with Epic’s forward-looking strategy for Fortnite. The game’s reputation for stellar management might mean bidding farewell to Season OG, as its permanent presence might not align with Epic’s larger vision.
