Do this in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to prevent your progress loss!

During gameplay in Dragon’s Dogma 2, approximately four hours of progress were unexpectedly lost due to the “Load from Last Inn Rest” option in the main menu. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is known for its stringent save mechanics and consequential decision-making.

Unlike some RPGs where players can manipulate saves, Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers limited flexibility. Altering decisions akin to Skyrim-style reloads is not an option. Additionally, initiating a new game within Dragon’s Dogma 2 itself is impossible, except through a complex save deletion process.

For context, Dragon’s Dogma 2 presents two save loading options in the main menu:

– Load from Last Save
– Load from Last Inn Rest

Despite the rarity of inn stays due to their high cost, the risk associated with the inn save remains significant. Choosing “Load from Last Inn Rest” inadvertently deletes other saves without a prominent warning, making it easy to overlook. Attempting to revert to the main menu to select the alternative option proves futile, resulting in the loss of progress made since the last inn rest.

While this discourages save-scumming, the infrequency of inn stays introduces an element of danger. To mitigate potential losses,
considering more frequent inn rests may be advisable. Additionally, the inn save can serve as a designated fallback point or a means to test strategies, provided the player resorts to it immediately after resting.

However, it’s likely that players will predominantly rely on their most recent save (auto or manual). The only instance where the inn save might be used is to test its inclusivity of camp rests, assuming players can easily return to the main menu to opt for an alternative save—a convention common in most RPGs.
