Fntastic, the creator of the widely criticized game, The Day Before, has issued a statement addressing online “misinformation” surrounding the game’s downfall.
Formerly a highly anticipated zombie survival game on Steam, The Day Before faced numerous challenges, including a peculiar marketing campaign, public statements, and conflicts leading to its removal from sale just four days after release.
In response to claims of deception, Fntastic attributes the game’s failure to a “hate campaign” orchestrated by “bloggers,” suggesting biased negativity influenced public perception. The statement urges readers to focus on unbiased gameplay, pointing to Dr Disrespect’s stream at release as an example of a positive review despite initial issues.
However, critics argue that skepticism towards the game stemmed from Fntastic’s own actions, such as generic trailers, delays, and overwhelmingly negative user reviews on Steam. The statement also defends Fntastic against accusations of deceiving players, emphasizing the absence of crowdfunding, pre-orders, and the studio’s effort to refund all players after the game’s shutdown.
While addressing rumors about the studio’s relationship with its publisher and alleged former employees’ stories, Fntastic concludes by expressing gratitude to supporters and encourages people to follow their social networks for future updates. Notably, the studio closed its doors four days after The Day Before’s release.
