I am an English teacher currently living in Korea, and I started streaming because I had a lot of fun just watching and playing video games with everybody. Someone in our group suggested that I should start streaming since I’m already playing these games with people, why don’t I just go ahead
and stream, and see what happens? I was like “Okay ill give it a shot” and then I found that I enjoy interacting with everybody, and just talking to people. It all started around 6 months ago, and I must say I got very lucky from people who raided me on Twitch. I have been also very lucky to find and interact with people that hyped me up about streaming. I was part of a very small private discord server where I was already playing with my friends. From there I started building a community, and I have been watching a lot of other streamers and how they engage with their audiences, how they all thank their viewers and all these little things that make the followers feel wanted. I try hard to make any newcomers feel like they are welcome in my stream and that this could be a place for them.
I got out of college and I decided
I wanted to take a break from school and then come to Korea. I had been to Korea a few years ago when I was studying abroad and I enjoyed living here and everything around it.
I thought why not just come here and
make a living out of it. I do enjoy teaching but sometimes the work can be a little bit tough, I can say that Korean people are extreme workaholics in a way, and it can be stressful at times, but I do not regret coming here and doing what I am doing.
I mainly play Genshin and I love it. I have been playing other games like Tower of Fantasy and sometimes my chat would suggest some games for me to play, which I would try out and if I like them, then I would continue to play. If I didn't, then I would probably just end up dropping it. Genshin and ToF have been the main games I play so far.
Not really, when Genshin hit I didn’t start the game right away. I started playing a little over a year ago because I didn’t have enough time, and then finally when I had a month when I was kind of free and about to go on vacation, I thought I would check the game out. From then I got hooked. Genshin is one of those games that gets you, they keep delivering content to the community even though it is a free-to-play game. The game has all the components of a game that I enjoy. I like open world kind of games and the storyline is fantastic, the graphics are astonishing, the music charming and everything is amazing.
As for games that I expect, I must say I don’t consider myself to be a true hardcore gamer. Before I started streaming and got into Genshin, I was just playing a lot of simple games because I didn’t have a computer that could handle hardcore gaming, and then after I got into streaming, I realized that I had to upgrade to be able to continue playing these games. When I got a decent computer, I started playing pc games.
Right now, whatever new game that comes out, I only find out about it through social media like Twitter, or if all of my friends are talking about it like “Hey did you hear about this new game”, then I might check it out. Other than that, I don’t look for any new games or updates actively.
There is this one game that is going to get released by Mihoyo. I believe it's called Honkai Star Rail. I saw the trailer and it looks kind of cool. I also tried Honkai impact 3rd but I must say I didn’t like the gameplay, so I am not sure how I will like Star Rail. I'm not fond of the turn-based kind of games so it was not my thing when I tried it.
