Overwatch 2 fans are feeling pretty bummed about the customization options for the new Mythic skin, Onryo Hanzo, in Season 7: Rise of Darkness. While many of us think the skin is super cool, we’re a bit disappointed that there aren’t as many ways to make it our own.

So, Mythic skins are like the shiny, top-tier cosmetics in Overwatch 2 that come with each new season. They usually have their own special voice lines, effects, and plenty of ways to tweak their look. You can change things like their faces, weapons, outfits, and colors to really make them stand out.

But, here’s the thing – Season 7’s Mythic skin, Onryo Hanzo, is kind of breaking the mold. Instead of offering us a bunch of customization options, it only gives us five. We can pick from two different bows and three different skin colors, but we can’t change the main outfit or how the character looks, like we could with previous Mythic skins. Considering that other Mythic skins usually offer between 8 and 11 options, this is a bit of a letdown.

Jared Neuss, the bigwig at Overwatch 2, heard our gripes on Twitter. He explained that each skin has its own unique focus, and Onryo Hanzo is all about the visual effects. It’s got special voice lines, ability effects, and even voice modulation. And he reassured us that this doesn’t set a standard for future Mythic skins in Overwatch 2.

But, a lot of us fans aren’t quite buying it. Sure, Onryo Hanzo’s effects are slick and cool, but other skins like Cyber Demon Genji and Amaterasu Kiriko also have their own special visual effects. Some of us think maybe the developers ran out of time to finish the skin properly. And there’s even some chatter about whether it’s a good idea to promise a Mythic skin every season if we can’t have as many choices for each one.

It’s not just Onryo Hanzo that’s causing a stir, though. Season 7 also brought some Diablo 4 skins to Overwatch 2, but most of the coolest ones are locked behind a $40 bundle. But on the bright side, Season 7 also gave us a cool new map and a spooky Battle Pass, so there are some good things happening alongside the disappointments.

For those of us eager to dive into the world of Overwatch 2, you can play it on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S right now. So, don’t let these hiccups dampen your excitement for the game!
