Big news for all you Rocket League fans! Some big changes are happening, and here’s the deal: Starting from December 5th at 4 pm PST, you won’t be able to trade cool cosmetic items with your pals in the game anymore. The folks at Psyonix, who make the game and are now part of Epic Games, shared this news recently, and, well, let’s just say that the response so far has been like, “Wait, why though?”

So, why are they doing this? It’s all about making Rocket League’s rules match up with the way Epic Games handles in-game stuff. Before, Rocket League had this system where you’d open loot boxes with keys, and the best stuff was kinda hard to get. But when Epic Games took over, they changed it up. Now, you can open those crates for free, and they have blueprints inside. You can craft these items using Credits, which is like the fancy in-game money. They also introduced an Item Shop, where you can just buy cool stuff directly with Credits.

This move won’t completely kill off trading, but it’s making it way less flexible. The trading scene was already slowing down after they switched to blueprints, but some players still got their hands on rare items through trades. They used websites like Rocket League Garage to set up these deals. But after December 5th, no more trading items with friends or between accounts. Also, watch out for websites or servers trying to sell trading services. They’re not legit and aren’t connected to Psyonix or Epic Games.

Also a heads up – if you’ve lent an item to someone in a trade, you won’t be able to get it back after they take the trading system away. Psyonix doesn’t support lending, and once a trade is done, it’s final. As for the reasons behind this change, it’s a bit of a mystery. Shifting from crates and keys to blueprints and Credits made sense due to all the fuss about loot boxes. But axing player-to-player trading is kinda puzzling. So, while Rocket League’s item marketplace isn’t as crazy as other games, like Counter-Strike, these changes are still coming our way.

These adjustments are meant to keep Rocket League in line with Epic’s policies on in-game items, and they might open the door for Rocket League vehicles to show up in other Epic games. That could mean you get to use the same cool cars in different games.

So, in a nutshell, these changes are coming, and they’ll shake up how you deal with in-game items. Get ready for a new Rocket League experience!
